Lang Tengah lies in between Redang & Perhentian
Lang Tengah, meaning “The Eagle resting in the middle”, the little island that lies in between Redang and Perhentian. Connected to the mainland via Merang Jetty, the resort is only a 30-minute boat ride away. A much more low profile island as compared to her sisters - Redang and Perhentian, she is a meeker version of her elder siblings; you don’t get the crazy and wild night scenes on Lang Tengah.
There is, however, an abundance of dive sites to explore at Lang Tengah. Lesser people on the island also means lesser divers, better corals, and marine life!
Lang Tengah is the movie set for a Mandarin rom-com starring Angelababy and Eddie Peng
For those who have grown up watching Hong Kong movies, you might have seen this movie, “夏日沫沫茶“ starring Richie Jen and Sammi Cheng. Redang Island became a household name in a night with the popularity of this romantic comedy set in the tropical island.
In 2001, there was a remake of this classic, “Love You You”. This time round, set in Lang Tengah Island, with the ocean and the as the backdrop, this romantic comedy starring Eddie Peng and Angelababy set out to capture hearts. They probably did capture a lot of hearts because we cannot find a single empty room at the resorts during the season from March onward!
80% of visitors to Lang Tengah are snorkelers
Most people who actually know and been to Lang Tengah are not divers. And it is easy to see why: apart from the water activities, the resort’s amenities and facilities are definitely more than enough to keep you entertained and occupied if you are a non-diver! If the ocean and the sun prove to be too much, you have the swimming pool. Grab a beer or a cocktail and watch the sunset by the beach bar. At night, there are live bands playing your favorite numbers, either pulling you into the pools of nostalgia or getting you as high as the Empire State Building.
You can do day trips to Redang & Perhentian from Lang Tengah
If you spend enough time here on Lang Tengah, that is. The diving in Lang Tengah is enough to keep you enthralled. It takes about 30 - 45 mins to travel to Redang and Perhentian from Lang Tengah. A word of caution though, expect a lot of divers in Redang and Perhentian dive sites. These two islands are considerably bigger than Lang Tengah, hence, housing a lot a lot more divers on the island.
